This Rob Lucci deck aims to combine the powerful cards of CP9 and Dressrosa. Both of these archetypes benefit from putting cards in the discard pile and as a result, synergize well together into this Dressrosa CP9 Deck.
The Deck’s Engine
The Dressrosa cards along with CP9 cards help speed up the deck’s searches and draw while simultaneously putting cards into the discard pile. Your opening turns will be Rebecca and Spandam. Use these two cards to search for key cards such as Sabo, Luffy, King Kong Gun, Airdoor, and Kaku.
Playing Air Door on your 4 DON! Turn can create a momentum swing if you are able to search out either Kaku or Jabra. If you don’t find any CP cards using Air Door can result in a drop of momentum for you but it’s perfectly fine since that means you have 5 more cards in your discard pile. As long as you have key cards like Trueno Bastardo, King Kong Gun, Luffy, or Kaku in your hand then extra cards in the discard pile will end up being useful.
Sabo is another card that helps speed up the deck and increase your discard pile. Sabo is great because you can draw two cards and discard any 2 cards from your hand while providing a strong body with a blocker ability and a KO 1-turn immunity for characters on your side. Sabo is also a good character to use King Kong Gun on for a strong swing and potentially hit for a double-attack.
Win Condition
This deck relies on putting on strong bodies and swinging for 7k-11k. With cards like Air Door, you have the potential of out-tempoing your opponent if you high roll. But even if you don’t get any value from Air Door the leader’s ability along with the strong bodies on board will allow you to hit multiple times a turn in the late game.
Luffy with a King Kong Gun can swing for a minimum of 13k twice if you have enough cards in your discard pile. A Rebecca with a King Kong gun and 1 DON! attached can swing for 9K for just 4 DON!. Your opponent will either have to discard a lot of cards from hand to counter or use blockers to stop the attacks. If blockers are used then you can activate Lucci’s ability to attack one more time.
The strategy for the deck is simple, search and draw using Rebecca, Spandam, Air Door, and Sabo for your key cards and build up your discard pile as much as possible. Remember for King Kong Gun to activate double-attack you need to have at least 15 cards in the discard pile.
Disruption Cards
Disruption cards are generally cards that prevent or slow down your opponent from executing their strategy. This deck runs Issho, Trueno Bastardo, Kaku, and even King Kong Gun as potential disruption cards.
Issho is good against decks that are slow and rely on playing big minions in the late game. This card punishes the decks that like to keep hand advantage by discarding 2 cards from the opponent’s hand if they have 6 cards or more. Issho also puts the bigger characters into the range of Kaku and Trueno Bastardo’s KO ability by lowering the character’s cost by 3.
While King Kong Gun is a really good card to close out the game it can also be used as a way of clearing big threats that are rested on your opponent’s board. By using King Kong on a Sabo or Rebecca you can swing for lots of power into big cards for a few amount of DON!. If you already have a Luffy on the field then you can even attack active characters along with the boost from King Kong Gun. It is a very versatile card and it is great for both offense and defense.
